DBI issues $5M seismic-upgrade permit for vacant school at 800 Chestnut

The Department of Building Inspection issued a $5 million alteration permit on March 11 for a seismic upgrade to the three-story school building at 800 Chestnut Street in Russian Hill. Per the permit description, the space will remain vacant during the work.

Future accessibility upgrades will be addressed under a separate permit; the description notes that no CFC will issue until ADA features are restored. The school use, three-story height, and type-3 construction are unchanged.
