DBI issues $15M permit for 535 Pacific structural upgrade in Chinatown

The Department of Building Inspection issued a $15 million alteration permit on February 19 for 535 Pacific Avenue, a four-story office building in Chinatown. The permit covers a structural upgrade to meet the 2022 code, accessibility work, and a restroom upgrade.

Plans add steel braces and interior shear walls and strengthen the roof diaphragm and steel beams. A section of the basement will be lowered to improve accessibility. The building's office use, four-story height, and type-3 construction are unchanged.

The site is in the Chinatown neighborhood, in Supervisor District 3.
