Potrero Hill 1-to-2 unit conversion at 266 Connecticut wins $1.6M permit

The Department of Building Inspection issued a $1.6 million change-of-use permit on February 17 for 266 Connecticut Street in Potrero Hill, converting a single-family dwelling to a two-family dwelling through a rear horizontal and vertical addition. The work adds one new unit and a fourth story.

Per the permit description, the project remodels and reconfigures the existing single-family unit, adds six new bathrooms, replaces the lower-unit kitchen, and adds kitchen and living spaces for the new upper unit. Plans also expand the garage, add a roof deck, alter the front and rear with a new facade, install a new flat roof, and upgrade the foundation. The estimated cost was originally $1.17 million and was revised to $1.61 million. The wood-frame structure was filed in January 2022 and approved in September 2025.
